LANGSTON HUGHES: James Mercer Langston Hughes was an American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and columnist from Joplin, Missouri. One of the earliest innovators of the then-new literary art form called jazz poetry, Hughes is best known as a leader of the Harlem Renaissance.
DR MAE JEMISON: Mae Carol Jemison is an American engineer, physician, and former NASA astronaut. She became the first black woman to travel into space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
ANGIE THOMAS: Angie Thomas is an American young adult author, best known for writing #TheHateUGive.
Black Lives Matter | What is Racism | Informative Colouring Pages For All Ages
This resource will teach students about what the Black Lives Matter movement is, what racism is and what racism may look like. The resource is also meant to inspire young activists with words from Nelson Mandela, Anäis Nin, Robert Ingersoll, Elizabeth Gilbert and Maya Angelou.
